South Dakota
In September of 2021 we visited South Dakota. For 4 days we stayed at an incredible, secluded, cabin just outside Custer, SD with Casey’s mom, aunt, and cousins. I loved starting my mornings, alone, on the balcony with a cup of coffee. In the evening the deer would venture out and we were able to throw feed down. It was truly a peaceful setting.
Casey and I ventured out by ourselves to do some hiking around Sylvan Lake.
No trip to the Black Hills is complete without a stop at Mount Rushmore.
One of the most memorable parts of our trip was a sunset bison safari through Custer State Park. We were able to see so many bison (which were being rounded up for the annual count), deer, antelope, and sheep.
Another fun stop was Deadwood. For 3 years in the late 1800’s it was a booming mining town. It’s infamous as the place where “Wild Bill” Hickok was killed playing poker. They have a really cool cemetery over looking the town.
